5 Ways To Get Your Social Media Followers To Your Website
Have you ever wondered, “Are people even going to my website? I’ve got these people on Instagram or TikTok following me, but have they ever clicked that little link in my bio?”
The number 1 statistic you want to look at for traffic is your website views or your unique website visitors. If you have a LARGE following, but very few unique website visitors, then you can usually come to the answer that people aren’t making it to your site.
If you have an active, engaged social media following, but you aren’t seeing much traffic on your website, read on! It’s important to get people who follow you on social media to actually click over to your website so that they connect with your business, view you as a trustworthy expert, and convert into paying customers.
There’s SO many ways to usher your social media followers to that link in your bio, but we’ve outlined some of our favorite and most effective ones (that don’t feel sales-y!). Check out the list of 5 Ways To Get Your Social Media Followers To Your Website below.
5 Ways To Get Your Social Media Followers To Your Website
1. Never Skip A Call To Action (CTA)
No matter what you post on social media, always make sure there’s a clear CTA that ties your content to your website. For Instagram, use verbiage like “Learn more at the link in our bio” or “Download our FREE digital workbook at the link in our bio.” People don’t often subconsciously think, “Oh, I should go find out more about that topic on my own.” Your social media copy should lead your audience, guide them to a destination, and clearly spell out for them where to go and how to get there.
Don’t feel like using CTAs regularly is too sales-y or pushy. You are actively providing value to your audience, and there’s no shame in that! Plus, you can often explain things in more detail on your website, whereas social media can be a little more limited (no one wants to read a huge caption that continues into the comment section).
2. Create Helpful Tutorials And Share Them On Social
One of the biggest tips we can give any business owner for marketing to their audience or customers is to give away their knowledge for free. Creating a helpful tutorial can not only help your customers or clients, but it will also position you as a trustworthy expert in your industry. Create tutorials using blog posts, explanatory videos, or infographics. Add these to your website, and then create social media posts promoting your tutorials!
PRO TIP(S): Always have a call to action to see the “full tutorial” on your website when you share about it on social media. And, name your tutorial something you’d search on Google to find the answer for some extra SEO juice on your website.
3. Create An Email Opt-In & Promote It On Social Media
Here at GoLive, we have long been advocates for having an email list. Not only is there proof that the ROI (return on investment) for email marketing is much higher than it is for social media, but having an email list is a more direct way to grow your audience and build long-term relationships.
In order to take those instagram followers and motivate them to get on your email list, you’ve got to be strategic. Offer your audience something in return for their email. This is where an enticing opt-in comes into play. Your opt-in could be a free download, a worksheet, or even a free product. For example, we give away free helpful resources on our website in exchange for email addresses.
Once you’ve got your email opt-in set up, make sure it’s easy to find. Make it super obvious on your website, or create a page just for the opt-in (like a landing page or a blog post). Then when you share about it on social media, you have a clear path to direct your people to.
4. Create A Blog & Share Your New (& Old) Content
Whether it’s been for video tutorials, social media posts, quick guides, or other resources, the thing that’s been going the longest for our brand is our blog. We get tons of traffic, sales and bookings from people finding our blog through Instagram, Google searches and Pinterest. Here’s the key: you have to create content that is actually helpful or valuable to your target audience.
When people see content that they find helpful and valuable, they feel like you’re doing them a favor by giving out this information. This leads to them trusting you as a resource and as an expert, and then they think of you when they need your product or service.
But here’s the key: don’t just post a blog post and let it sit in internet no-man’s land. Share the post once it’s launched, and don’t be afraid to share and re-share again to recycle and refresh your content to remind your audience about past posts. With all the algorithms, it’s likely they could have missed it the first time around.
Once they are hooked on your brand, your audience will keep them coming back to your blog. People coming back to your website increases both your page views and your website visits. Plus, having reliable, quality information and links to get more of it keeps people on your website for longer.
5. Share Updates To Your Website
When you launch a website for the first time or are announcing a re-launch, it’s almost like getting a hall pass that says, “Yes, you can tell people to go to your website!” Invite your followers to celebrate with you and check out the new site.
If your website is still in-progress, share that with your followers. Post that you’re working on your website, give sneak peeks, and create some buzz online! Even if you have an existing website and you’re doing some minor updates or maintenance, there’s no harm in promoting your site to your followers.
Here’s a quick list of opportunities when we’d encourage you to share about your website:
Share behind the scenes of your first website
Share behind the scenes of your rebrand
Post once your website launch or rebrand is live
Share that you’re updating your services or portfolio page
Showcase when you’re updating your testimonials
Post that you’ve got a new item in your shop
Share that you’ve updated the email opt-in in your footer
The Wrap-Up
Don’t be discouraged if your website analytics aren’t showing much traffic right now! By consistently creating helpful content, adding value to your website, and creating some buzz on your social channels, you’ll have new website visitors in no time.
