Joint PR Is Live On Squarespace
We are so honored to show off this launch for Joint PR! Kristen Grossi + Alysha Light came to us with a clear vision of what they wanted for their new company’s Squarespace site, and we so enjoyed giving them a Restyle with ourvault template Aligned for Squarespace. The Joint PR design is simple + modern.

KRISTEN GROSSI + ALYSHA LIGHT
GOLIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?
We both come from different backgrounds but at our core, we have always loved the art of storytelling & the excitement of working with early-stage companies in emerging markets. Kristen started out in entertainment marketing which led to lifestyle PR and then evolved into tech PR. Alysha started out on in journalism, working alongside producers, anchors and writers early on before transitioning to B2B PR for companies across marketing, tech and entertainment.
Naturally, we were both drawn to the fast-growing cannabis industry and feel we have a really strong offering given our past experiences.
GOLIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?
Kristen: No, I was self-taught! I literally took one PR class in college. Most of what I know is self-taught and what I've learned from mentors.
Alysha: I minored in journalism which was a great foundation for understanding basic story structure, reporting, etc. I actually grew up wanting to be a filmmaker and journalism was the closest I could get at the time.
GOLIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Kristen: The hardest lesson I've learned is how to set boundaries because PR is a very high-stress job (PR is consistently ranked one of the most stressful jobs -- one year it was #2 behind BOMB DIFFUSER, ha!). It's learning how to set boundaries -- both in work & life -- so that you can feel as balanced as possible and be present and engaged.
Alysha: I've learned how important it is to celebrate the small wins. I used to think you celebrate only when something MAJOR happens (e.g. you close a BIG client, you land a BIG story), but it feels so good to pat myself on the back for even the simplest achievements. Giving myself permission to feel good about minor wins & successes has been a game changer for me.
GOLIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?
We wish someone would have told us how much the media landscape would change.
GOLIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU HAD WHEN YOU SAID, “I SHOULD DO THIS” OR WHAT MADE YOU JUMP INTO WORKING FOR YOURSELF?
Kristen: When I was in marketing, I was on the other side of the coin in terms of working with a PR agency. I basically took the good things and the not so good and turned that into what I would want to see from an ideal agency. I started my agency during the time when there were so many startups cropping up in Silicon Beach, so I wanted to jump on that exciting opportunity.
Alysha: I was in NYC working for a PR firm when I told my boss I would be moving to LA. I thought she would wish me well and send me on my way, but instead, she asked me if I would launch and run the agency's LA office. After doing that for 2 years, a light bulb went off and I thought, "If I'm going to be out here working by myself, why not try working for myself?"
GOLIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED / DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN IN YOUR LIFE FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?
To be part of and ultimately, leave our mark in an exciting industry that is fast becoming legitimized in the U.S.
GOLIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH US FOR YOUR RESTYLE OR CUSTOM DESIGN?
What we love about GoLive is the streamlined process & creativity and enthusiasm that makes it super easy to get your website up and running super fast. Other agencies we looked into quoted us 6-12 months out and tens of thousands of dollars -- way too slow for a startup agency that's ready to roll ;-)
