We are so excited about this reveal for The Complete Boutique! Janine Mix came to us wanting a new Custom Website built on Showit for her business that serves retail business owners grow, launch and expand for more success. Janine wanted The Complete Boutique to be chic and modern with just a little bit of edgy, so we incorporated bold use of color and typography to get a refined, fun and bold look for her brand and website design.

GOLIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?
Janine: My passion for retail started when I was 10 years old and my mom left her corporate banking job to pursue owning her own retail store. It was a dream that she and my father had. Seeing them work hard, having freedom to make their own schedules, and the impact they made on the community forever changed my life. Small businesses are the backbone of our country and everyday I am a #shopsmall advocate. It’s the greatest job in the world!
GOLIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?
Janine: If you consider having to work 2 jobs to pay for my very expensive private university in California, which happened to be what kept me in retail for so long, then yes, my degree helped prepare me, lol. I prefer the School of Hard Knocks, and went from shy salesperson, afraid to say the wrong thing, to corporate trainer making to p sales and a corner office on Beverly Drive Boulevard. I’m not knocking on education, but there is a lot to say about real life experience. I’ve seen a lot of business owners with business degrees not know how to function. I’m grateful for all the experiences that led me to where I am today.
GOLIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Janine: It’s not the hardest lesson but one that continues to come back to me over and over again - trust your gut! There have been times when, deep down, I knew exactly what I needed to do but I didn’t listen to my gut and made mistakes that cost me time, money, or clients. When I get that feeling in the pit of my stomach when I want to launch a new program, create a new course, or have a new idea... I can’t ignore that.
GOLIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?
Janine: No one has it all figured out. Stop searching for a magic formula. There’s no genetic disposition. You don’t have bad luck. To get where you want to go, you have to run after it. It takes dedication, being intentional, and the timing is always perfect even if it’s not “your time.” Just keep doing that damn thing!
GOLIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU AHD WHEN YOU SAID, “I SHOULD DO THIS,” AND START WORKING FOR YOURSELF?
Janine: Ok, this one is funny because I was actually in a Pure Barre class in the middle of doing abs and the instructor said, “Are you in your comfort zone or your war zone? Change happens in your war zone!” It may seem silly but in that moment, I took that advice and applied it to everything in my life. Was I comfortable working for someone else? Is it comfortable getting a steady paycheck? Heck, I even feel it in my abs right now or just going through the motions?!? Needless to say, I left that class and everything changed. 2 months later I started my business. If you want something so bad, you have to get uncomfortable.
GOLIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED / DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN IN YOUR LIFE FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?
Janine: The biggest thing I have gained by following my dream is helping others reach theirs. I don’t believe people just want to plow through life stepping over others to reach the top. As humans, we crave to make a difference, help others, and live a purposeful life. I literally get to do that everyday, and you can too. Right now, you have the opportunity to impact someone every moment of the day. Now if you can create a career around that, build your idea of your best life, and make money doing it - DREAM. COME. TRUE.
GOLIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH GOLIVE?
Janine: Besides the fact that you literally work with so many incredible entrepreneurs and companies I admire and look up to, I would say 100% I didn’t have to wait 8 weeks t o have a logo, brand kit, and website. Ain’t nobody got time for that! Hello, I’m trying to run a business here! Also, I kinda just want to be friends with the whole team. You all are freaking awesome!
