Row33 Travel Co Is Live On Squarespace

This site makes us want to book a vacation — and that’s the goal! Row 33 Travel is a Restyle of our Salt + Sage Template for Squarespace. Designing a new brand and website for Jen Dienst’s full-service travel agency was such a dream. With beautiful imagery and great copywriting, we were able to marry Jen’s desire for a neutral, clean and elegant brand with the dreamy spaces and places she’s writing about into a sleek and enticing brand look.

Learn about Jen’s growing love for travel, and what she’s learned in her latest adventure: running her own business.

I think knowing that you can, and should, bring in outside help to manage the areas you’re not great at (like hiring someone to build a website!) isn’t a waste of money, it’s just smart and saves you so much time.
— Jen Dienst

GOLIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?

Jen: I think I've always felt the urge to explore new places. My passion for travel stems from that and a general curiosity about people and places different from myself. I've written about travel and hospitality for more than a decade now. The more that I traveled for assignments, the more I fell in love with the logistics of travel advising — especially trips that are complicated or involve remote or less-traveled places.

I love the challenge of discovering a new country — the customs, the culture, the taboos, all of it. Being able to connect with local people and establish relationships is a big part (and perk!) of the job. I hope to share that same wide-eyed sense of enthusiasm about the world with my clients.

GOLIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?

Jen: Definitely more self taught. I majored in journalism, but I believe that journalism is best learned by doing. I feel the same about travel advising.

GOLIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?

Jen: Learning how to sell myself. I try not to see it that way, but I think it's necessary to some degree. I try to take a less-obvious approach by first sharing my knowledge and passion, and if it's the right fit then it will happen.

GOLIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?

Jen: I think knowing that you can, and should, bring in outside help to manage the areas you're not great at (like hiring someone to build a website!) isn't a waste of money, it's just smart and saves you so much time.

GOLIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED / DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN IN YOUR LIFE FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?

Jen: I was sitting in row 33 (hence the name!) on a flight, coming back from a trip abroad for a magazine assignment. I was thinking about how I felt more excited to sit down to plan the next trip than I was to write about that one, and it hit me — why don't I do this for other people, for a living? I nerd out over logistics — which flight works best, what itinerary makes the most sense — so that part is really fun for me. But it also goes deeper than that for me — I think travel can have such a transformative effect on the way you view the world and your own life, and I want to help people see that and experience that for themselves.

GOLIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED FROM FOLLOWING YOUR DREAM?

Jen: I'm really excited about owning my own business and having the opportunity to build it from scratch. I have such a passion for travel and being able to share that with my clients feels like a gift, not a job. I'm excited to get to work when I wake up in the morning!

GOLIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH US FOR YOUR RESTYLE OR CUSTOM DESIGN?

Jen: I was really impressed by your portfolio! I also loved that I could take a template and tweak it instead of starting from scratch, which seemed daunting. I also liked that I could easily add content later since I was already familiar with Squarespace.
