ABOUT THE DESIGN
The main goal for this project, aside from showcasing Lena’s stunning photography was to showcase her infectious personality! Our team got to work on a Restyle (customization of a Squarespace Template from our shop) of our Rise & Shine Template For Squarespace. The vibe we were going for was energetic, bright and luxurious. So we focused on using really bright colors and bold fonts to make this design come to life and compliment the high energy, stunning imagery.
Q&A with Lena Mirisola
Where did your passion for the industry or craft start?
In middle school! I always wanted to be an artist/painter/animator/designer, but it wasn't until the 8th grade when I really got serious with a point and shoot camera. I saved up for an entry level DSLR when I was 14, started my business at 1 5, and the rest was history.
What’s the hardest lesson you’ve learned in your business?
You can't do it all yourself, as much as you may want to (or think you have to). I have been majorly burnt out on different occasions, and have learned the hard way that one person alone cannot successfully run a business. Do what you do best and outsource the rest - having a team can alleviate stress and workload so you can serve your clients and give them the best experience you can. Giving up a little control is the best thing you can do!
What do you wish someone would have told you when you started out?
Don't put time and energy caring about what everyone else is doing, instead focus on your own growth. The comparison game is real - Suzie booked 35 weddings this year but Jenny only booked 13, etc. We're all looking around at others trying to figure out what to say and who to be - after 10 years I learned that the only thing that matters is me now vs me 3 years ago, 5 years ago, etc. Have I improved shooting and style wise? Have I met my income goals and analytics benchmarks? Am I happy in life? Suzie's life on Instagram doesn't matter, nor should you be jealous of her. Everyone goes at their own pace, and everyone struggles. Stay in your laneeee!
Anything else you want to we should know or want to get off your chest?
Hire GoLive FOR EVERYTHING!!! These ladies are beyond incredible listeners, doers, designers, visionaries, and artists. When you're designing, think about the entrepreneur you want to be now, in 1 year, in 3 years - look to the future for inspiration. Be the best version of you that you possibly can! Also if you know someone getting married in Boston... hit ya girl up ;) xoxox
