Reverie Vie Is Live On Squarespace

Jess Lynn created her fashion blog at first as a hobby, and now she's building her career on it. Jess created Reverie Vie, a blog and now an agency representing creatives changing the world through art.

The Reverie Vie design is based on our blog Template Jonesie. We gave it a Restyle for an effortlessly chic vibe, and fashion forward design that serves her business, podcast, and fashion blog. A black-and-white color palette was an easy choice, and we added hints of pink throughout for that chic vibe. The handwritten fonts and embellishments gave it an extra edge.

Check out our Q&A with Jess about her Restyle

Jess chats with us about her journey from the corporate world and what it took to start her own business

GO LIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?

Jess: From a young age I've always been in love with fashion and creating. Everyone around me always knew me for my style. It was my constant to have people ask me where I got my outfits, or if I could help style them. Fashion was something I had to put on the back burner when I joined corporate because I never thought fashion could be a serious career for me. Working in a male dominated industry like tech - I would always have people ask me how I found my career. The lack of awareness and communication in traditional media around career choices for women made me want to find a way to communicate this on a larger scale.

GO LIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?  OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?

Jess: My education taught me a lot of the business skills I needed to run a business. I learned about supply chain, partnership, management, and how to grow a business. Being in tech and working with a lot of different personalities taught me how to be a self-starter and an intra-prenuer within a company. I came to a point where I realized I had something to offer on my own, and was able to merge the skills I learned in tech to start my own agency.

GO LIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?

Jess: Not to be scared of failing. It's about picking yourself up and not giving up. Everyone is going to fail. Business has high and lows, but it's the ones who keep trying and thinking of new ways that ultimately succeed.

GO LIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?

Jess: To always stay true to myself. It's easy to get lost, especially when you're starting your career. It's important to have great mentors that you can trust. My mentors have meant the world to me, and that's why I wanted to create my podcast as a widespread mentoring platform for women in the workplace. But I think sometimes we can lose ourselves when we try to take on all the advice from others around us. Even if it's well meaning.

Instead of becoming like others or becoming like our mentors, we can learn to stay true to ourselves. Our uniqueness is ultimately what makes us the most successful. Learn how to take advice, but put your own spin on it. Make sure you are staying true to what's right for you.

GO LIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU HAD WHEN YOU SAID, “I SHOULD DO THIS” OR WHAT MADE YOU TAKE THE JUMP INTO WORKING FOR YOURSELF?

Jess: When I realized my corporate role wasn't make me light up everyday. I had started my blog on the side at first as just a hobby, but then realized it was what I would work late into the night and on weekends for. It was getting noticed through my blog that I got my first client. Soon I realized I couldn't do both anymore, and that was when I made the leap to working for myself full time.

GO LIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED / DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?

Jess: Being able to do something that I love while also giving back. The freedom to work on the projects that have meaning to me, and to be in charge of my schedule.

GO LIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH US FOR YOUR RESTYLE?

JessI fell in love with your process and your design. I felt like you guys got me! Our aesthetics are so similar and your process makes it so easy. Your 5 step process helped me to align all of my ideas clearly, and I love that it only takes a week and we are launched! Couldn't be happier.

GO LIVE: ANYTHING ELSE WE SHOULD KNOW?

Jess: If you want to hear about how women from every industry (fashion, tech, music, film, astrology etc.) started their own business or found their unique careers, then I would love to share my podcast "Wear to Work" with you or with anyone you think could find value from it! It will be releasing the week of September 10th. I'll be announcing on my blog once it's released :)
