Tyler Williams Is Live On Squarespace
We are so excited about this reveal for Tyler Williams: speaker, racecar driver and author! Tyler came to us wanting a Custom Website after already using Squarespace for his website. His main goal was to elevate his brand and make everything more bold and dynamic.
Working with Tyler was a dream. He’s musician and is an incredible communicator. He was clear in his desires for the site and it was a fun project. Bringing his vision to life in a week is a part of the fun and to showcase him online with a bold new site is why we do this work! Tyler loved giving his old site a massive facelift and just taking his brand to the next level was exciting to see that unfold during the week.
“I’ve always felt there was power in taking ownership of your life. Not letting others dictate your future. I love that you can think of an idea, go to work on it and one day see the dream come to life.”
– TYLER WILLIAMS
GOLIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?
Tyler: I love sound, speed, and story. That shows up in the work I do as a country music singer, race car driver, and speaker. I can trace my passion for each of those back to my childhood. As early as I can remember I was always making sounds. My uncles are mechanics so I spent a lot of time around cars growing up. And being on stage in middle school ignited a desire to be an entertainer. What started out as singing on stage eventually turned into speaking as well.
I always feel a little selfish with music and racing because much of the focus is o n me. That’s why I really love speaking on stage because my time there is all about the audience, creating a moment where together we can explore what it looks like to awaken performance potential. Not performance from an entertainer standpoint but performance is how we show up in life. It’s amazing to see an audience member wake up to the possibilities in front of them.
I love that I can blend all three of these worlds together and choose to bring my dreams to life each day.
GOLIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?
Tyler: I majored in International Affairs at UGA. I don’t work for a three letter government agency so I don’t really use my degree at all. But I did love my classes and what I learned.
In my work today, there has been a nice mix of education outside of formal schooling combined with self-directed study. With music, racing, and speaking, they all require an initial decision to take the risk, put yourself out there and go for it. I didn’t have anyone pushing me to do any of these things. The decision was mine alone. Once I made the leap in each field and made a commitment to myself to show up, I found coaches and mentors, people who have been instrumental in helping me take my work to the next level during various seasons. I’m a believer you can only go at it alone for so long.
GOLIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?
Tyler: Asking for help. When you start small and wear a lot of hats it’s easy to get stuck in the mindset of you being responsible for taking care of all things. As the business grows you have more access to help but it’s still easy to do what you’ve always done. I’ve had to learn to let go of things I don’t need to be doing so that I can focus on the things I’m best at doing. And it’s those things that impact the business the most. It may seem like a simple lesson but it’s certainly been a challenge.
GOLIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?
Tyler: No isn’t personal.
Early on it took time to move on from hearing no. It felt personal. And it kept me from developing my business. Now I take nothing personal when it comes to hearing n o. Not everyone needs what you have to offer when you are offering it. Whether that's booking me as a speaker, a country music artist, or working to close corporate partnerships for racing. It’s a mindset that allows me to move onto the next opportunity faster whenever I hear no.
Nothing is personal.
GOLIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU AHD WHEN YOU SAID, “I SHOULD DO THIS,” AND START WORKING FOR YOURSELF?
Tyler: My parents have been small business owners my whole life. It’s all I’ve known and wanted. I’ve had side hustles and random projects going on all the time but I finally made a commitment to myself that if I wanted to create the life I saw in my mind, I needed to go all in. I kept playing small. I was afraid that people would think m y dream of being a country music singing race car driver who speaks on stages was a little too far out there and that I’d need to reign it in. The more I worked on it, the greater my desire became to see it come to life.
I had to answer the call to go for it.
GOLIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED / DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN IN YOUR LIFE FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?
Tyler: I’ve always felt there was power in taking ownership of your life. Not letting others dictate your future. I love that you can think of an idea, go to work on it and one day see the dream come to life. Maybe not how you initially thought of it but nonetheless you have a life you created. And to do that with others who love those things as well. It doesn’t get much better.
I love to see potential grow and develop. I get to see that everyday. And that is fun for me.
GOLIVE: WHY DID YOU ULTIMATELY DECIDE TO WORK WITH GOLIVE?
Tyler: GoLive does great design work and they know their way around SquareSpace which I was already using. So they immediately had some boxes checked. What helped make my decision was their time commitment. If you can’t tell, as a race car driver I love speed and Go Live is all about crafting great design in a short amount of time. With Go Live you have great design plus a fun team to work with who makes a major commitment to you and your time - can’t go wrong with a combination like that.
