Custom Squarespace Website For A Productivity Consultant

We are so excited about our most recent website design project for Productivity Consultant, Dr. Kara Beasley. It was so much fun watching this brand and website come to life, beginning with creating the mood board and color palette, then the logo and then onto the design of each page. One of our favorite details of this website is how dynamic and alive it feels. For this project we chose our Salt + Sage Template for Squarespace. Then we restyled it to showcase her brand vibe and vision: MODERN, ENERGETIC & PROFESSIONAL.

GO LIVE: WHERE DID YOUR PASSION FOR THE INDUSTRY OR CRAFT START?

Kara: I am a former actor turned neurosurgeon. I desperately missed the creative energy o f improvisational theatre. While earning my MBA, I realized that the improv techniques I love, are incredibly applicable to business and personal growth, and they are backed by neuroscience! After that lightbulb moment, the rest fell into place.

GO LIVE: DID YOUR EDUCATION HELP PREPARE YOU FOR THE INDUSTRY OR FOR STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS? OR ARE YOU SELF-TAUGHT?

Kara: I have formal education in both theatre arts, improvisation and an MBA (all of which are critical to my industry. Honestly though, my residency training truly prepare d me for starting my own business. All of the long nights and grueling hours taught me the perseverance and tenacity necessary to become an entrepreneur.

GO LIVE: WHAT’S THE HARDEST LESSON YOU’VE LEARNED IN YOUR BUSINESS?

Kara: The hardest lesson to learn is actually one I teach my clients, you can't always plan everything. The magic happens when you learn to say "yes" to opportunities and b umps in the road. It is in embracing the unexpected that you to move far beyond whatever you could have planned for yourself.

GO LIVE: WHAT DO YOU WISH SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TOLD YOU WHEN YOU STARTED OUT?

Kara: I wish someone had reminded me that I am in control. When everything is moving at light speed in business and you feel overwhelmed, it is great to understand that you are still in control. YOU get to choose where to focus your energy, what you choose to be and become as an entrepreneur and as a business. You don't have to follow advice or suggestions if they don't resonate or because someone "important" said the thing. You get to choose!

GO LIVE: WHAT WAS THE MOMENT YOU HAD WHEN YOU SAID, “I SHOULD DO THIS” OR WHAT MADE YOU TAKE THE JUMP INTO WORKING FOR YOURSELF?

Kara: I have always known that I needed to be my own boss, but this venture is a departure from my formal neurosurgery career and a return to my roots. I was sitting in a personal branding workshop and the moderator asked us to describe when we feel most alive and then use that to write our own retirement speech. She asked what we wanted others to say about us at the end of the day. I realized that while I love surgery, where I a most alive is on stage giving talks and teaching workshops. That's when I knew I had to step into this next big adventure and say "yes" to my life.

GO LIVE: WHAT THINGS HAVE YOU GAINED / DO YOU HOPE TO GAIN IN YOUR LIFE FROM FOLLOWING THIS DREAM?

Kara: Through this process I have gained a deep insight into my strengths and weaknesses as an entrepreneur and learned what areas I want to foster and develop in order to make myself and my business better. Ultimately, I hope to give myself an avenue to continue to pursue my two core personal values of kindness and growth. I know to the depths of my being that this business will not only stretch me and foster growth, but I am hoping it will allow me to spread kindness and leave the world a little better off.

Kara: I stumbled across GoLive HQ through a referral from a writer, artist and all-around rockstar of a female businessperson I met. When we started to talk about my project, she instantly thought of your team. What I loved about your work was how fresh and modern it looked. I was impressed by the rapid process while still producing a stellar product. At the end of the day it was about energy, fit, and oh yeah, that whole all female team really spoke to my heart!
