Q&A: Should I Go With Wordpress Or Squarespace?

Hey guys it's Promise, the Founder and CEO of Go Live, And Ash, the Creative Manager for Go Live! We've been getting SO many questions recently on just about everything under the sun and we're now giving you our thoughts on your most burning questions!! ;) So this Q&A is for the creatives who just can't decide!!

SARAH WRITES IN AND ASKS: "I'M STARTING A NEW WEBSITE & I'M TORN BETWEEN THE PLATFORMS OF SQUARESPACE AND WORDPRESS. WHICH DO YOU SUGGEST?”

This is a great question that we get asked a lot. Choosing the right platform is really important & should be your first priority before you head in the direction of design details, logos, imagery, etc.

LET’S HAVE A QUICK CHAT ABOUT WORDPRESS.

Wordpress has been known to be a web industry standard. It’s been around for a long time and it has a lot of plugins and different functionalities that you can add to your site. But that can tend to make websites clunky and sometimes are hard-to-use for the average person.
Especially because there are so many different things to keep up with such as a widgets or new plugins and updates. And when you want to make an update, it typically takes time, or you might need a web designer or developer on your team to make any little update or change.

If you are a large company, maybe you don’t mind that. But at Go Live, we work a lot with small businesses, creative entrepreneurs, and people that like to feel empowered to edit and tweak their website as their business grows and expands.

NOW ON TO SQUARESPACE.

Squarespace is easy-to-use & update and you can tailor it to changes you need to make. i.e. if you add a team member, updating your portfolio, changing image galleries, etc. All these things you can do simply on Squarespace and not feel overwhelmed or bogged down, and be 10 emails deep with a web developer with tons of hourly costs later just to update one area on a Wordpress site.

What we love about Squarespace is that it has a blog, a shop, AND SEO already packaged into the platform. So you don’t have to worry about that! And no extra plugins are needed.

Last year Google rolled out a new algorithm for mobile searches that favors sites that are optimized for smart phones and penalizes sites that are not optimized for mobile viewing. You want YOUR site to be the one that Google favors when someone searches your business, topic, or industry.

SO IF YOU ARE A CREATIVE BUSINESS OWNER, AN ENTREPRENEUR, OR SOMEONE THAT WANTS TO HAVE CONTROL OVER THEIR WEBSITE IN 2017, THEN WE WOULD RECOMMEND USING SQUARESPACE.

You can check out our shop where we have many different designs & we give you all the tools you need to tailor it to your own brand, so that way you can have a unique Squarespace site that stands out from other traditional templates. And our quick & easy-to-use video tutorials will help you make the website of your dreams in a jiffy!
