L'OBSERVATORY IS LIVE ON SQUARESPACE
Lynsey Rose of lobservatory.com, is a street-style fashion blogger inspired by outfits after dark. She came to us wanting a website upgrade and we couldn't wait to get started on this project! Lynsey wanted an editorial look very reminiscent of Vogue. So we made sure to include black and white and Vogue-like typography. But we threw in elements that were more personal to Lynsey such as her photos, some cheetah print, and some hand-lettering typography. She also loved the font we used for her name in her new logo, which is always a plus!
We loved designing the homepage. It’s quite neat that the Squarespace template she chose, Banquet, is romantic and airy and we was able to take that template and create something that was completely stylistically different. Lynsey’s website could not be more far from romantic and airy. This shows how versatile the our website templates can be and how you can truly make them your own. We jumped outside the safety lines of design and created a black homepage to give that "after dark" desired look. We are so excited for the results and can't wait to see Lynsey's blog take off! Cheers!!
Hey guys Promise here!!
As the owner of a web design company, I not only get to help people launch what they love on a daily basis, but I get to see and experience a lot of different brands.
The most successful? The brands that are DIFFERENT!
They stand out and attract attention because of how unique they are. To have a brand that makes a splash in this digital age you can’t just copy your competition and plan to one-up them in some way. Instead you have to be different by offering something that no one else is offering to a targeted specific group of people.
You might be thinking, “How am I supposed to come up with something that no one else is offering?” Well, this may sound geeky, but it’s something that I actually really LOVE to think and brainstorm about. My personality thrives on being unique and so I get a kick out of helping others think outside the box. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, you just have to put a new spin on it.
I’m in the process of doing a LIVE four-week experiment with Jasmine Star and last week we dissected 3 businesses that were doing all of this really well. Something that I noticed was that the differentiating factor in each of these three business models stemmed from either the Founder’s passion, hobby, strength, or style. I’ve been playing around with this simple equation that can kick off a killer brainstorming session for creating a brand that’s DIFFERENT.
Your expertise (product or service) + your secret sauce (passion, hobby, strength, style, demographic, timeframe or a way to give back) + demand in the market place = a stand out brand
You’ll need to come up with several different lists, and then mix and match because some of them obviously won’t work…but over all this proves to be an effective brainstorming tool.
For examples of how this equation works plus more notes and ideas on this topic pop your email in at yourbrandologists.com and you’ll automatically receive the FREE download with all the helpful info. I can get geeky excited about this kind of stuff so please let me know how it goes!
